If you want to register your patent or utility model in more than one country, there are several options. However, it must be taken into account that filing abroad will increase the demands on the novelty of your invention, as well as the fact that utility model protection is not possible in every country. In general, there are three ways to file a patent abroad:

1. Filing through national authorities in each country

It is about filing a patent application in individual countries through our patent attorneys. That is the best option when applying to a limited number of countries.

2. Filing through the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) - PCT application

With one application through the home office, a patent is filed with the international intellectual property organization. Within 30 months, the countries to which the patent is filed will be determined.

3. Filing through the European Patent Office

Application for a European patent valid in 39 European countries.

The price for the international protection of a patent or utility model will depend on the number of countries, the method of protection but also the essence of the invention. However, in comparison with a simple Slovak patent application, it will be several times higher.
